Monroe County ranked 79th in state for resident earnings in 2017


Monroe County ranked 79th among counties in Ohio by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Monroe County residents was an inflation-adjusted $22,401 per year. Monroe County had 5,984 households in 2017, with a population of 14,239.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Delaware County. Delaware County's median income was $44,208 per year after adjusting for inflation – $21,807 more than Monroe County. It had 67,701 households in 2017 and a population of 193,024.

Athens County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Ohio, with a median income of only $14,351 per year. That was $8,050 less than the median income in Monroe County at the time. Athens County had 22,509 households in 2017 and a population of 65,563.
