Graduates earn 4,875 degrees, certificates from the University of Akron Main Campus


About 16.9 percent of the 4,875 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of Akron Main Campus in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Akron conferred 467 bachelor's degrees and 222 master's degrees in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in registered nursing/registered nurse. Data shows the school gave out 246 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse, followed by 188 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies and 173 bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering.

The university enrolled 20,169 students for 2017-18, including 16,872 in undergraduate programs and 3,297 in graduate programs.
