Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.
The Cincinnati Region Internship Task Force, an unprecedented partnership between the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Connection (GC3), the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and 18 local colleges and universities, will host the Foundations of Internship Development Workshop, February 4, 8:00 - 10 a.m. in the Schiff Family Center at Xavier University’s Cintas Center.
The Workshop will introduce business leaders to the Cincinnati Region Internship Toolkit, a Task Force created resource to help employers build and refresh internships and co-ops for local students pursuing higher education certificates and degrees. The Toolkit, which is a Cincinnati Region Internship Task Force effort, shares local information, best practices, resources and connections.
Employers at the Foundations of Internship Development Workshop will connect with local colleges and universities to find interns, work with higher education and business professionals, connect with companies interested in developing internships and leave with a realistic plan to implement an internship in their organization. Additionally, they will enjoy access to the Cincinnati Region Intern Navigator, a Task Force-created searchable database connecting employers to potential interns and co-ops at 18 local GC3 colleges and universities.
“A growing number of businesses have internships and co-op programs – and others want to learn more. All will benefit from the February 4 workshop,” said Janet Piccirillo, Executive Director of GC3. “Growing our workforce and developing a robust talent pipeline through internships and co-ops will give Cincinnati a competitive edge on peer regions.”
“The Cincinnati Region Internship Task Force further realizes the Cincinnati Chamber’s promise to lead our region’s efforts in connecting higher education to employers,” said Jules Shumate, Talent Attraction, Higher Ed & Special Projects Leader for the Chamber. “In addition to helping our businesses get access to our best and brightest, the Cincinnati Chamber is thrilled to deliver on its role as a regional chamber, serving our entire metropolitan statistical area. It is regionalism in full display.”
Deadline to register is January 30, 2019. Space is limited. Cost is $15.
