Giant Eagle locations across Ohio have a new way to play the lottery.
Giant Eagle, along with Blackhawk Network, the Ohio Lottery and Linq3, have brought the Play at the Checkout program to the grocery store's locations in the state.
With Play at the Checkout you can buy a lottery card, which is similar to a gift card, while purchasing your groceries. You then use the card and send a text message according to the card's instructions to enter that drawing. The cards are reusable. Winners will receive a text message notification and most winnings can be paid via PayPal.
Games now available for Play at the Checkout are Powerball and Mega Millions, according to WFMJ News. Customers must be 18 years old or older to purchase the cards.
Play at the Checkout is offered in Ohio and Georgia at Giant Eagle and Target locations, according to Linq3's website. Soon, it will be offered at Kroger, Publix and Buehler's Fresh Foods.
Linq3 also offers a program called Play at the Pump, which allows customers to purchase lottery tickets when they are at the gas pump. That program is offered in several states as well.
